Ferozepur: Punjab Police have dismantled a cross-border narcotics smuggling network in an intelligence-driven operation in Ferozepur, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of more than four kilograms of heroin, officials said on Thursday.

According to police sources, the operation resulted in the recovery of 4.013 kg of heroin, which preliminary investigations suggest was trafficked into India from Pakistan. Investigators have identified key backward linkages, indicating the involvement of an organised network with strong connections across the border.

The arrests were made following sustained surveillance and actionable intelligence, enabling police teams to intercept the accused before the contraband could be distributed further. The identities of the arrested persons have not been disclosed as further questioning is underway.

An FIR has been registered at Mamdot police station in Ferozepur district, and agencies are now focusing on tracing the wider network involved in the smuggling operation, including handlers and local facilitators.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the Punjab Police is intensifying its campaign against drug trafficking. He reiterated that the force remains determined to break narco-supply chains operating along the border and reaffirmed its commitment to making Punjab safer and free from the menace of drugs.

Officials said more arrests and recoveries cannot be ruled out as the investigation progresses.
