New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday attended the launch of the official logo and website for India’s BRICS Presidency 2026, outlining New Delhi’s vision of strengthening cooperation among member nations with a focus on global welfare, inclusivity and sustainable development.

Addressing the gathering, Jaishankar said India’s upcoming BRICS chairship comes at a significant moment, as the grouping prepares to complete 20 years since its formation. He noted that BRICS has gradually evolved into an influential platform for cooperation among emerging economies and developing nations, expanding both its agenda and membership in response to changing global realities.

“India’s BRICS chairship will seek to bring together the collective potential of BRICS countries for greater global welfare,” Jaishankar said. He added that over the years, the grouping has remained committed to people-centric development, meaningful dialogue and practical cooperation despite global shifts and challenges.

The External Affairs Minister said India’s approach to the chairship would be guided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, placing humanity and people at the centre of policymaking. He explained that the theme for India’s BRICS Presidency — Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability — reflects New Delhi’s belief that closer cooperation among BRICS members can help address shared global challenges in a balanced and inclusive manner.

Speaking on the newly unveiled logo, Jaishankar said it symbolises unity in diversity and development for all. He explained that the design blends tradition with modernity, with petals featuring the colours of all BRICS member nations, highlighting a shared purpose while respecting individual identities. The logo, he said, conveys the idea that BRICS derives its strength from the collective contributions of its members.

Jaishankar also highlighted the importance of the newly launched BRICS India website, describing it as a central platform during India’s chairship. The website will provide information on meetings, initiatives and outcomes, facilitate transparency and engagement, and ensure timely dissemination of information related to BRICS activities.

Reflecting on the broader global context, the minister said the world is currently facing complex and interconnected challenges, including geopolitical uncertainties, economic disruptions, climate risks, rapid technological changes and persistent development gaps. In such a scenario, he said, BRICS continues to play a crucial role by promoting dialogue, cooperation and practical responses that take into account the diverse priorities and stages of development of its member countries.

India is set to assume the BRICS chairship in 2026, with expectations that it will use the platform to strengthen South-South cooperation and amplify the voice of the Global South on key international issues.
