New Delhi— India on Wednesday carried out the successful test-firing of two indigenously developed Pralay missiles in quick succession from the Odisha coast, marking another milestone in the country’s advanced missile programme. The Defence Research and Development Organisation conducted the launches as part of user evaluation trials to validate the missile’s operational readiness.

According to the Ministry of Defence, both missiles performed as expected and precisely followed their planned trajectories. Tracking systems deployed during the exercise confirmed that all flight objectives were achieved without deviation. The tests demonstrated the reliability and accuracy of the missile under operational conditions.

Pralay is a short-range, quasi-ballistic missile equipped with a modern navigation system that enhances precision targeting. The missile is designed to carry different types of warheads, enabling it to strike a wide range of targets with high accuracy. Its development strengthens India’s conventional strike capabilities and adds depth to the armed forces’ tactical options.

Defence officials said the successful tests reaffirm the robustness of India’s indigenous defence technology ecosystem and underline the growing maturity of domestically developed missile systems. Further evaluations are expected as part of the process before the missile is inducted into service.
