Delhi: Fourteen-year-old cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has added another milestone to his rapidly growing career by receiving the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, the country’s highest civilian honour for children. The award was presented to him in New Delhi in recognition of his extraordinary achievements on the cricket field at such a young age.

The young batter from Bihar was conferred the honour by President Droupadi Murmu during a special ceremony held in the national capital. Following the event, Vaibhav and other award recipients are scheduled to interact with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an engagement aimed at motivating and celebrating young achievers from across the country.

Vaibhav’s presence at the award ceremony means he will be unavailable for the remaining fixtures of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, he signed off from the tournament in emphatic fashion, producing a stunning innings of 190 runs from just 84 deliveries against Arunachal Pradesh — a knock that firmly placed him in the record books of List A cricket.

Over the past year, Vaibhav has consistently rewritten age-related milestones. He became the youngest player to score a century in men’s List A cricket, guiding Bihar to a historic total of 574 for six wickets. His aggressive strokeplay has also shone in the shortest formats, as he emerged as the joint third-fastest Indian to reach a T20 century during the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025, registering one of the highest scores by an Indian in the competition.

On the international youth stage, Vaibhav grabbed attention by smashing the fastest century in youth ODI history, reaching three figures in just 52 balls during India’s Under-19 tour of England. His rise continued in the Indian Premier League, where he created headlines in the 2025 season by becoming the youngest centurion in the tournament’s history and the second-fastest overall, bringing up his hundred in only 35 balls against Gujarat Titans.

With records tumbling and national recognition now to his name, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s journey is being closely followed by the cricketing world, as many believe this teenage star is only getting started.
