Haryana: Haryana witnessed a series of accidents on Sunday morning as dense fog reduced visibility on major highways, leading to multiple vehicle collisions. The most serious incident occurred on Highway 152D, also known as the Trans-Haryana Expressway, near Kharkara village in Rohtak district. At least two people lost their lives, while 25 others sustained injuries.
The accident took place around 8 am when a bus collided with a stationary truck on the highway, which connects Ambala to Narnaul. The collision triggered a massive pile-up involving 10 to 12 vehicles, including trucks, buses, and cars. Injured passengers and drivers were immediately rushed to PGI Rohtak for medical treatment, while rescue teams worked at the site to clear the wreckage.
Earlier in the day, a similar collision occurred on Rewari Road in Jhajjar district. A bus traveling from Khatu Shyam in Rajasthan to Bahadurgarh in Haryana collided with a truck that was stationary on the road between Kulana and Gurawada villages. Around 50 passengers were on board, with the bus driver sustaining serious injuries and several passengers suffering minor ones. The driver was referred to PGI Jhajjar for treatment.
Haryana has been under a severe cold wave for the past few days, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a cold wave alert for the state. Dense fog and low visibility have been reported in several parts of North India, including Delhi-NCR, prompting authorities to advise caution for commuters traveling on affected roads.
Officials have urged drivers to follow safety protocols, use low-beam headlights, and maintain safe distances to prevent further accidents in the fog-affected regions.
