The complainant, a resident of Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Zira, informed the Bureau that the accused had demanded a bribe of ₹5.40 lakh in exchange for helping him secure possession of a piece of Waqf Board land. According to the complaint, Iqbal had already taken ₹70,000 as the first instalment.

The complainant had also deposited ₹2.98 lakh as official fees and rent in the name of the Waqf Board, Zira, through cheques. During the raid, the Vigilance team recovered all these cheques from Iqbal’s office before arresting him in the trap operation.
