Patna: Jubilant supporters of the Janata Dal (United) turned the area outside the party headquarters into a festive scene on Friday as early trends showed the NDA leading in 186 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly. Firecrackers lit up the air, drums echoed through the streets, and green ‘gulaal’ covered enthusiastic party workers, reflecting the high spirits of Nitish Kumar’s loyal base.

What started as a small group watching updates on their phones quickly grew into a celebratory crowd as the NDA’s commanding lead became clear. Workers waved a large poster of Nitish Kumar above their heads, while chants of “Teer chalega, Bihar badega!” reverberated across the gathering.

Ramesh Yadav, a longtime JD(U) volunteer from Nalanda, said, “From 2005 until now, people have seen who truly governs the state. Today, that trust is visible again.” Meanwhile, youth groups paraded the party’s green arrow symbol, distributing sweets and joining in drumbeats to mark the moment.

With the BJP securing 85 leads and allies LJP(RV) and HAM(S) adding to the NDA’s surge, the celebrations intensified. By noon, the streets were strewn with firecracker remnants, sweet wrappers, and streaks of green powder, illustrating the exuberance of supporters convinced they were witnessing Nitish Kumar’s fifth electoral victory.
