Shambhu (Punjab): The Qaumi Insaaf Morcha Punjab, along with several farmer organizations, is set to march from the Shambhu border to Delhi today, demanding the release of Sikh prisoners. Support from farmer unions has strengthened the planned demonstration, with participants beginning to assemble at the Shambhu border early Friday.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher confirmed that the march will proceed as scheduled and emphasized the collaborative support of various agricultural groups. “The Qaumi Insaaf Morcha will move towards Delhi from Shambhu, and farmer unions are standing firmly with them,” he said.
In anticipation of the march, Punjab and Haryana police have implemented strict traffic management measures. The Rajpura-Ambala highway has been closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and barricades have been erected along key points to manage the flow of vehicles. Authorities have urged commuters to plan alternate routes and avoid the affected stretch to prevent disruptions.
The protest comes amid ongoing demands by activists for the release of Sikh prisoners, highlighting a growing alliance between the Qaumi Insaaf Morcha and farmer organizations in the region. Police and local administration officials continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure public safety while facilitating the march.
