Faridabad— In a major counter-terror breakthrough, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Faridabad Police, busted a transnational terror module operating in Delhi-NCR and recovered a massive cache of explosives and ammunition from a rented house in Haryana’s Faridabad.

The explosives were seized from the Dhauj village residence of Dr. Muzammil Shakil, an MBBS doctor and faculty member at Al Falah Medical College. Originally from Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Shakil had reportedly rented the property three months ago. Acting on intelligence derived from interrogations of suspects in J&K, security teams uncovered direct links between the seized material and terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH).

Police officials confirmed that seven individuals have been arrested so far in the case. A formal FIR has been registered under the UAPA Act, BNS, Explosive Substances Act, and Arms Act at Nowgam Police Station in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to police sources, the investigation has exposed a “white-collar terror network” involving radicalised professionals and students who maintained contact with handlers in Pakistan and other foreign countries.

Authorities recovered an extensive cache that included 350 kilograms of explosives, 14 bags of ammonium nitrate weighing about 100 kg, an AK-47 rifle, 84 live cartridges, multiple bomb timers, five litres of chemical solution, and 48 other items suspected to be components for improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Investigators are also probing a potential Pakistan link to the operation. Forensic teams are examining the seized material while intelligence agencies trace funding sources and cross-border connections.

A woman doctor from Jammu and Kashmir is also under investigation after the rifle recovered from Muzammil was reportedly found inside a Swift Dzire car registered in her name. Although reports suggest the vehicle may have been borrowed without her knowledge, officials have not ruled out her involvement.

Among the arrested are:
  • Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil, Yasir-ul-Ashraf, and Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid (all from Nowgam, Srinagar)
  • Molvi Irfan Ahmad, Imam from Shopian
  • Zameer Ahmad Ahanger alias Mutlasha, resident of Wakura, Ganderbal
  • Dr. Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie alias Musaib, from Koil, Pulwama
  • Dr. Adeel, from Wanpora, Kulgam

Preliminary findings indicate that the group raised terror funds through academic and professional channels, posing as social and charitable initiatives. They were allegedly recruiting individuals, radicalising youth, and procuring arms and IED materials for planned attacks.

Authorities have called the operation one of the biggest terror crackdowns in recent months, highlighting the growing nexus between academia and extremist networks under foreign influence.
