Syria: n attack attributed to the Islamic State group in Syria has claimed the lives of three Americans, including two US service members and a civilian, prompting a sharp warning from President Donald Trump of a forceful response.

The incident occurred at a US military installation in a volatile region of Syria that remains outside full government control. According to American officials, a lone attacker linked to ISIS opened fire near the base entrance, resulting in the deaths of the two soldiers who were deployed on counter-terrorism duties, as well as a civilian interpreter working alongside US forces. Three additional US soldiers were injured in the assault and are reported to be in stable condition.

Reacting to the incident, President Trump expressed grief over the loss of what he described as “three great American patriots” and extended prayers to the wounded personnel. In a statement posted on social media, he held ISIS responsible for the attack and signaled that the United States would respond decisively. Trump also noted that Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa was angered by the incident, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.

US defense officials said the assailant was neutralized shortly after the shooting. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell confirmed that the attack targeted soldiers stationed at the gate of the base and emphasized that the civilian victim was serving as a military interpreter.

The Syrian military acknowledged that some of its own personnel were also injured during the incident and said investigations are underway to determine whether the attacker was a confirmed ISIS operative or someone acting under the influence of extremist ideology.

This marks the first deadly assault on American troops in Syria since the fall of former Syrian president Bashar Assad. Hundreds of US soldiers remain deployed in eastern parts of the country as part of an international coalition aimed at preventing the resurgence of ISIS.
