New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held separate telephone conversations with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman and Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, strongly condemning recent attacks on the two Gulf nations and expressing solidarity with their leadership and people.

During the discussions, Modi reaffirmed India’s firm opposition to any actions that undermine a nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stressed that restoring calm and stability in West Asia at the earliest was critical for regional and global security.

In his exchange with the Saudi Crown Prince, Modi conveyed India’s concern over the evolving situation in the region and denounced the strikes targeting Saudi territory. The two leaders agreed that de-escalation and dialogue were essential to prevent further deterioration of the security environment. The Prime Minister also expressed appreciation for the Kingdom’s continued support and protection of the large Indian diaspora residing there during the ongoing crisis.

In a separate conversation with King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, Modi reiterated India’s solidarity with Bahrain following the attacks. He thanked the Bahraini leadership for ensuring the safety and welfare of Indian nationals in the country and underlined the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

The outreach comes against the backdrop of escalating hostilities in West Asia after coordinated strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets, including an operation that reportedly led to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran subsequently launched retaliatory missile attacks that impacted multiple countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

Earlier, Modi had also spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as part of India’s diplomatic engagement amid the fast-moving developments.

India has consistently called for restraint and dialogue, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding civilian lives and maintaining stability in a region that hosts millions of Indian expatriates and serves as a key partner in energy and trade.
