New Delhi: An Indian national was killed and several others sustained injuries after a missile strike hit Kuwait International Airport early Wednesday, as tensions between Iran and the United States intensified with a fresh exchange of military attacks across the region.

The attack, reportedly launched by Iran, targeted the airport during the latest phase of hostilities between Tehran and Washington, raising concerns about the growing impact of the conflict on civilians and foreign nationals living in the Gulf region.

Expressing grief over the loss of life, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) strongly condemned the strike. In an official statement, the ministry confirmed the death of an Indian citizen and injuries to several others in the incident.

The MEA reiterated India’s long-standing position that civilian lives and infrastructure must be protected during armed conflicts. It urged all parties involved in the confrontation to refrain from actions that endanger non-combatants and to work towards reducing tensions.

Indian diplomatic officials in Kuwait have been directed to provide every possible assistance to those affected by the attack. The embassy is coordinating with local authorities and extending support to the injured as well as the family of the deceased.

The ministry also stated that Indian missions across West Asia remain on high alert in view of the rapidly evolving security situation. Diplomatic posts in the region are maintaining close contact with Indian communities and monitoring developments to ensure the safety and welfare of Indian nationals.

The incident highlights the widening regional repercussions of the ongoing Iran-US confrontation, which has sparked concerns about the security of key civilian facilities and the safety of expatriate populations in the Gulf. As international calls for restraint grow louder, fears remain that further escalation could place more civilians at risk.

Authorities in Kuwait are investigating the circumstances surrounding the strike, while emergency services continue to assist those affected by the attack. The condition of the injured individuals has not yet been officially disclosed.
