Peshawar, Pakistan — A major security operation was launched in Peshawar on Monday after gunmen and suicide bombers targeted the headquarters of the Frontier Constabulary, a key paramilitary force stationed near a busy military cantonment area.

Police confirmed that multiple attackers stormed the complex, with two suicide bombers leading the assault. According to officials who spoke to Reuters, at least three people have been killed so far.

A senior official, requesting anonymity, said the first suicide bomber detonated explosives at the main entrance, allowing the second attacker to enter the premises. Security forces believe additional militants may still be inside the compound, prompting a large-scale cordon and cautious tactical response.

Army units, police, and other law enforcement agencies swiftly sealed off the surrounding area as the operation continued. Roads leading to the headquarters were shut down, and heavy security remained deployed to prevent civilian movement near the site.

Residents reported hearing gunfire and blasts shortly after the attackers breached the entrance. “The road has been closed for traffic and cordoned off by the army, police and security personnel,” local resident Safdar Khan told Reuters.

Authorities have yet to issue an official casualty count or confirm whether all attackers have been neutralised.
