Donald Trump Warns of US Retaliation if Iran Targets Qatar Again Amid Escalating Gulf Tensions

Washington: Amid intensifying hostilities in West Asia, Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran, stating that the United States would respond forcefully if Tehran launches further attacks on Qatar.

In remarks posted on social media, Trump said Washington would not hesitate to take decisive action if Qatari energy infrastructure is targeted again. While indicating that efforts were underway to prevent further Israeli strikes on Iran’s critical gas facilities, he stressed that any renewed aggression against Qatar would trigger a strong military response.

The warning comes as tensions surge following reported strikes on the South Pars gas field, one of the world’s largest natural gas reserves shared by Iran and Qatar. The attack, attributed to Israel, has further inflamed the conflict, prompting retaliatory moves from Tehran.

Iran has since launched missile strikes on energy installations across the Gulf, including facilities in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. In Qatar, a strike reportedly hit the Ras Laffan liquefied natural gas complex, sparking fires and halting operations. Authorities in Abu Dhabi also confirmed temporary shutdowns at key gas sites following attempted attacks.

Reacting strongly, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian condemned the assault on South Pars, cautioning that continued attacks on strategic energy assets could lead to far-reaching global consequences.

The conflict has already begun to disrupt global energy markets, with oil prices surging sharply amid fears over supply disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz — a vital route for global oil shipments. Industry analysts warn that prolonged instability could further strain supply chains and push prices higher.

Meanwhile, Gulf nations have remained largely restrained despite repeated strikes on their territory, focusing instead on defensive measures to protect key infrastructure. However, the expanding scope of attacks has raised concerns about a broader regional escalation.

As diplomatic efforts struggle to gain traction, the situation remains volatile, with military actions and counterattacks continuing to heighten uncertainty across the region.
