Washington: The US President Donald Trump has announced the nomination of Sergio Gor as the next United States Ambassador to India, while also naming him as Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.
In a statement, Trump highlighted Gorโs extensive contributions to his administration and political campaigns. Currently serving as Director of Presidential Personnel, Gor and his team are credited with appointing nearly 4,000 individuals across federal departments and agencies, bringing staffing levels to over 95 percent. He will continue in his White House role until his ambassadorial appointment is confirmed.
Trump praised Gor as a trusted ally who has played multiple roles in his political journey, including overseeing key campaign operations, publishing Trumpโs bestselling books, and managing one of the largest Super Political Action Committees (Super PACs) supporting his movement.
โHaving someone I trust to advance our agenda in the worldโs most populous region is critical,โ Trump said, adding that Gor would โmake an incredible Ambassadorโ and reaffirming his confidence in his longtime associate.
If confirmed, Gor will play a significant role in shaping U.S. relations with India and advancing American interests across South and Central Asia.
