Ottawa: Federal border authorities have deported four Indian foreign nationals as part of an escalating nationwide enforcement campaign targeting organized crime and violent extortion schemes. The Canada Border Services Agency confirmed the removals on Monday, highlighting the cases to illustrate ongoing joint operations with domestic police forces to identify, investigate, and expel individuals deemed inadmissible under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. The sustained enforcement measures come in response to a wave of extortion threats and related violence that has largely targeted South Asian business owners and community members across multiple provinces.
According to the border agency, 188 removal orders have been issued on various inadmissibility grounds linked to extortion probes as of early September, leading to 111 deportations to date. Enforcement activities initially intensified across the Pacific and Prairie regions in August 2025 before expanding into the Greater Toronto Area three months later. Regionally, the Pacific sector has recorded 91 removal orders resulting in 58 expulsions, while 47 orders in the Prairies yielded 30 removals, and 50 orders in the Greater Toronto Area led to 23 departures.
The four highlighted deportations involve foreign nationals found inadmissible due to direct ties to criminal syndicates and violent offences. Palwinder Singh was removed from Canada after the Immigration and Refugee Board determined he belonged to a criminal organisation connected to an extortion-related shooting in the autumn of 2025. Similarly, Amitoz Bajwa was ordered out of the country after immigration authorities linked him to firearms violations, an extortion shooting, and active participation in an organised crime syndicate.
In two other resolved cases, Jasmer Singh was issued a deportation order and expelled following a criminal conviction in Canada for forcible confinement, meeting the threshold for serious criminality under federal immigration statutes. The fourth individual, Sahibjot Singh, was removed after admitting to committing offences that formed part of a criminal syndicate’s established pattern of unlawful activities.
Federal officials stressed that inter-agency collaboration remains central to dismantling these criminal operations and protecting local communities. The border agency, which carries out roughly 400 deportations weekly across all inadmissibility categories, continues to prioritize cases that present severe public safety risks, national security threats, and organised crime links.
