Shymkent (Kazakhstan): Indian shooters Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan clinched the gold medal in the 10m air rifle mixed team event at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship on Saturday.

The Indian duo outclassed China’s Dingke Lu and Xinlu Peng 17-11 in the final. Although the Chinese pair took an early lead, Babuta and Valarivan recovered strongly after a shaky start with shots of 9.5 and 10.1, ultimately sealing the top podium finish.

For Elavenil, this was her second gold of the competition, having earlier triumphed in the women’s 10m air rifle event.

India continued its golden run at the championship as the men’s 10m air rifle team of Babuta, Rudrankksh Patil, and Kiran Jadhav had already bagged gold in the team category.
