YouTube Suspends Channel of Fatehgarh Sahib Head Granthi Over Policy Violations

Sri Fatehgarh Sahib: Days after YouTube acted against the official channel of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the platform has now suspended another prominent Sikh religious account. The channel belonging to Bhai Harpal Singh, the Head Granthi of Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, has been taken down for allegedly violating the company’s Violent Criminal Organizations Policy.

YouTube said the action was triggered by content that appeared to praise or support groups involved in violent or criminal activities, which is strictly prohibited under its safety rules. The platform emphasised that videos perceived as glorifying or aiding violent extremist organisations cannot remain online, and the material posted on the Head Granthi’s channel was found to be inconsistent with these standards.

Following the suspension, Bhai Harpal Singh voiced his anger through a Facebook post. Drawing parallels with the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, he criticised the move as an attempt to silence truthful expression. He questioned whether the legacy of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji—whose martyrdom is remembered for defending human rights and religious freedom—is being honoured in practice or only in words.

He argued that suppressing religious voices contradicts the very principles Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji stood for and suggested that such actions reflect an oppressive mindset rather than a commitment to justice and freedom.
