Kharar: Panic gripped residents of SVP North Valley on Kharar-Landran Road this morning after a cylinder blast tore through a third-floor flat in Tower No. 5.

According to officials, the explosion occurred in Flat No. 323, leaving two occupants with burn injuries. Both were rushed to a private hospital in Mohali, where they are currently receiving treatment. Neighbors said the fire spread quickly, damaging household items before help could arrive.

Local head Bhupinder Singh, who was alerted about the incident, promptly informed the fire department. Fire officers said multiple vehicles were dispatched, but traffic congestion and the poor condition of Kharar-Landran Road delayed their arrival. To avoid further delay, backup was also summoned from the Mohali fire station.

The blaze was eventually brought under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby flats. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire that triggered the cylinder blast.
