Ferozepur: The Ferozepur Police have arrested two men involved in an extortion attempt demanding ₹50 lakh and a subsequent firing incident outside a businessman’s residence. The arrests were made in a coordinated operation led by DSP Karan Sharma, supported by the CIA team under SP (D) Manjit Singh. Police also recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from the accused.
According to police, on September 18, 2025, the complainant Jashandeep Singh of village Badhni Gulab Singh received a phone call demanding ₹50 lakh. When he refused, the accused allegedly fired multiple rounds outside his home on October 10, 2025, around 10:05 p.m., to instill fear.
Through technical surveillance, police identified the accused as Tarsem Singh alias Jora and Lovedeep Singh alias Laddi, both residents of village Bandala Kalan. They were intercepted at a naka point while attempting to flee on a motorcycle.
Investigations revealed that both accused met in jail while serving time for separate serious crimes — Tarsem Singh in a murder case (FIR No. 88/2018, PS Sadar Ferozepur) and Lovedeep Singh in a rape and abduction case (FIR No. 59/2018, PS Bandala Kalan). The duo allegedly planned the extortion together after being released and used the recovered pistol in the firing.
SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said the arrests reflect the district police’s firm stance against organized crime and assured further action to maintain law and order. Police will seek remand of the accused for deeper investigation.
