Patiala: In a significant moment during Punjab’s local body elections, transgender candidate Komal Mahant won the Samana Municipal Council election from Ward No. 18 on a Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) ticket.

After the results were announced, Komal Mahant thanked the people of Samana for their support and expressed gratitude to voters for placing their trust in her.
“First of all, Namaskar and Sat Shri Akal to all the people of Samana. I pray to God to keep everyone happy. I love you from the bottom of my heart, my people from Samana and Ward 18. Their love and support have helped me reach here,” Komal Mahant said after the victory.
