Chandigarh: The Supreme Court on Monday deferred the hearing on the bail application of senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia once again, listing the matter for February 2, 2026.

Earlier, the apex court had directed the Punjab government to submit its response to Majithia’s bail plea by January 19. However, during the hearing, the state government sought an additional two weeks to file its reply. Accepting the request, the court granted more time, leading to another postponement in the case.

As a result, the hearing on Majithia’s bail application will now take place in early February. The SAD leader is currently lodged in Nabha Jail.

Majithia had approached the Supreme Court after the Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissed his bail plea, prompting him to seek relief from the apex court.
