Amritsar: The Head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh, has strongly condemned the recent circulation of an AI-generated video that depicted tampering with the sacred image of the shrine. Calling it a “sensational and deeply unfortunate act,” he emphasized that such misrepresentation of Sikhism’s holiest site cannot be tolerated.
Speaking to the media, Singh said the Harmandir Sahib stands as a universal symbol of dialogue, respect, and harmony among all faiths, and any attempt to distort its image strikes at the very core of these values. “Using AI tools to show the demolition of Guru Ghar, which carries the message of equality and reverence for all religions, is a grave and condemnable act,” he remarked.
Following the uproar, Darbar Sahib Manager Bhagwant Singh Dhangera lodged a formal complaint with the Police Commissioner of Amritsar. Acting on the complaint, the Commissioner immediately ordered the registration of an FIR and initiated an investigation into the matter. Authorities have assured that the culprits will be identified and brought to justice at the earliest.
Giani Raghbir Singh also appealed to the Sikh Sangat and the wider public not to circulate such videos further, as doing so only aids those who attempt to malign the sanctity of religious institutions. “Those indulging in such nefarious activities with AI technology will not be spared under any circumstances,” he said firmly.
The incident has sparked outrage among devotees, who are calling for stricter regulations against the misuse of artificial intelligence for communal or religious mischief.
