Nahan (Himachal Pradesh): At least seven people lost their lives in a tragic road accident on Friday in the Renukaji assembly constituency of Sirmaur district, Himachal Pradesh, after a private bus skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Haripurdhar market.

The bus, operated by Jeet Coach, was on its way from Shimla to Kupvi when it reportedly lost control and fell nearly 60 metres into the steep gorge. The vehicle was heavily crowded at the time of the accident, officials said. The impact of the crash was so severe that the bus was completely mangled, triggering panic in the surrounding area.

Local residents were the first to reach the accident site and began rescue operations, pulling out injured passengers from the wreckage even before emergency teams arrived. Police and district administration officials later reached the spot and took charge of the relief and rescue efforts.

Renukaji MLA Vinay Kumar confirmed that seven people have died in the accident. He said several passengers sustained serious injuries, raising concerns that the death toll could increase. All the injured were shifted to the Haripurdhar hospital, where they are undergoing emergency treatment.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident, officials said.
