CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has announced the complete closure of all schools in the Sri Anandpur Sahib block from November 22 to November 26 in anticipation of the large crowds expected for the 350th Shaheedi Diwas (Martyrdom Day) of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains made the announcement, stating that the decision prioritizes the safety of students and staff amid the historic commemorations.
The Minister explained that a heavy influx of devotees has already begun arriving in Sri Anandpur Sahib, and this crowd is expected to multiply several times over the coming days. The administration determined that this massive congregation would create significant travel difficulties and potential safety risks for school children and daily commuters. Consequently, the local schools have been granted five continuous days of holidays. The government emphasized that the move is essential not only for the security of students, parents, and school staff but also to help streamline traffic management and ensure the smooth running of the transport system during the crowded events.
