Amritsar – Floodwaters have created a critical situation in Ajnala as the banks of the Ravi river gave way at two locations, submerging thousands of acres of farmland. Authorities have urged residents in low-lying areas to evacuate to safer zones immediately.

The water level in the Ranjit Sagar Dam has crossed the danger mark of 527 metres, prompting officials to release water from the reservoir in a controlled manner. Meanwhile, levels in the Pong Dam have also risen above the danger mark, and the Bhakra Dam has reached an alarming height.

Districts worst affected by the ongoing floods include Tarn Taran, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, and Ferozepur, with authorities closely monitoring the situation and coordinating relief efforts.
