Chandigarh: In a significant success against organized crime, Punjab’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested Vipan Kumar, a resident of Bassi Muda in Hoshiarpur district.
According to officials, the accused was found in possession of a .32 bore country-made pistol and six live cartridges. A case has been registered at the Police Station in City Kharar, and further investigation is underway.

Preliminary findings suggest Kumar played a key role in the murder of Rakesh Kumar alias Gaggi in Khwaja Basal village of Una, Himachal Pradesh. The killing is believed to have been part of an ongoing feud between rival gangs operating across state and international borders.
Police sources revealed that the victim, Gaggi, was linked to gangster Babbi Rana, a close associate of Sonu Khatri. The rival groups led by Laddi Bhajal alias Kooner and Monu Gujjar, affiliated with the Ravi Balachauria gang, are suspected to have orchestrated the attack as part of their turf war.
The Punjab Police emphasized that they remain determined to dismantle such criminal networks and safeguard public safety. “Operations against gangsters will continue relentlessly until the state is free from the menace of organized crime,” an official said.
