AMRITSAR/LAHORE — In a distressing turn of events, Sarabjit Kaur, a woman from Punjab who recently travelled to Pakistan to marry a Muslim man, has issued a desperate plea to return to India. Reaching out to her Indian husband, Karnail Singh, and a Pakistani legal representative, Advocate Ali Changezi Sandhu, Kaur revealed that she is living in “extremely difficult conditions” and is being subjected to continuous harassment and blackmail.
During an emotional conversation captured in a video released by Advocate Sandhu, Kaur was seen weeping as she shared her ordeal. She disclosed that her primary motive for travelling to Pakistan was not a willing marriage, but an attempt to retrieve and delete objectionable photographs and videos held by Nasir Hussain. However, once she arrived, Hussain allegedly used the sensitive materials to blackmail her, forcing her into both marriage and a religious conversion against her will.
The situation grew even more dire on March 6, 2026, when Kaur was expected to record her formal statement before the Lahore High Court. She reported that although a taxi arrived at Hussain’s residence early that morning to transport her to the court, the family forcibly prevented her from leaving. Nasir Hussain and his relatives allegedly warned her that her appearance in court would create significant legal complications for them, effectively holding her captive during the scheduled hearing.
Sarabjit Kaur has expressed a firm intention to seek justice and pursue legal action against Nasir Hussain, his first wife, and his daughter for their roles in her mistreatment. Advocate Sandhu, who communicated with her on March 5, chose to release the video recently to highlight the gravity of her situation. As Kaur remains in Pakistan under duress, her case has sparked renewed concern regarding the safety of women in cross-border disputes involving allegations of digital coercion and forced domestic confinement.
