Chandigarh: In light of the worsening flood situation across Punjab, the state government has ordered the closure of all educational institutions until September 7, 2025.

Education Minister announced the decision on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the move follows the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. The order applies to government, aided, recognized, and private schools, as well as colleges, universities, and polytechnic institutes throughout the state.

The Minister urged citizens to adhere to the instructions of local authorities to ensure safety. “Everyone is requested to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the local administration,” he wrote.

The decision comes as Punjab continues to battle one of its worst flood disasters in decades, with large-scale displacement, damage to crops, and heavy losses reported in multiple districts. Relief and rescue operations are underway, while several areas remain waterlogged.
