Punjab School Winter Holiday Extension Latest News: As North India continues to reel under intense cold waves and dense fog, the Chandigarh Education Department has issued directives regulating school timings for government, private, and aided institutions until January 10. The decision aims to safeguard students and staff from harsh weather while minimizing academic disruption.

According to the order, students up to Class VIII, as well as those in non-board classes IX and XI, will not attend physical classes. Schools are encouraged to conduct online sessions starting from 9 am, with staff timings adjusted accordingly. For board classes X and XII, schools may operate from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, ensuring that pre-board examinations, if any, are not disrupted.

Meanwhile, the parents across Punjab are now wondering whether the state government will follow this temporary adjustment with an extension of the official winter holidays, similar to measures taken in other northern states grappling with extreme cold.

While no formal announcement has been made regarding a holiday extension, education officials said the situation would be reviewed daily, taking into account weather forecasts, fog density, and the safety of students commuting to schools.

With forecasts predicting continued cold waves and dense fog across Punjab, parents and school authorities are keeping a close watch on updates from the state government.
