Bathinda: Five people were killed in two separate road accidents in Punjab. Three people died after a bus travelling from Manali to Sri Amritsar Sahib fell from a flyover in Banga, Nawanshahr, while two youths were killed after their motorcycle collided with a trolley near Mandi Kalan in Bathinda.
Police have started investigations into both incidents.
Bus Falls From Banga Flyover, 3 Killed
The first accident took place at around 5 am in Banga sub-tehsil of Nawanshahr district.
According to preliminary information, a bus travelling from Manali to Sri Amritsar Sahib lost control while crossing the Banga flyover and plunged onto the road below.
Three people, including the bus conductor, were reportedly killed in the accident. A student is also said to be among the deceased.
Driver Reportedly Lost Control Of Bus
According to the initial information, the accident may have occurred after the driver allegedly dozed off while driving.
The bus reportedly lost control and fell from the flyover, triggering panic at the spot.
Police officials reached the site after receiving information about the accident and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The bus driver reportedly fled the spot after the accident.
Two Youths Killed In Bathinda Bike Accident
The second fatal accident took place near Mandi Kalan village on the Rampura-Talwandi Sabo road in Bathinda district.
According to the information available, two youths were travelling on a motorcycle towards their home in Mandi Kalan when their bike collided with a trolley near a turn on the road.
The impact was reportedly severe, leaving both riders critically injured.
Victims Declared Dead At Hospital
Passersby helped take the injured youths to a civil hospital for treatment.
However, doctors examined them and declared both dead.
Police reached the spot after being informed about the accident and have started an investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision.
Further action is underway in both cases.
