Jalandhar/Amritsar: In a significant breakthrough against terror activities, the Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of Punjab Police, Jalandhar, has recovered a high-explosive 86P hand grenade, further tightening the noose around the network of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operatives.

The recovery comes in continuation of recent arrests made by CI Jalandhar, where two individuals — Ritik Naroliya and a juvenile from Rajasthan — were apprehended. Their disclosures paved the way for the arrest of two more associates, identified as Vishavjit, who was intercepted in Kolkata while attempting to flee to Malaysia, and Jackson from Nakodar.

Terror Network Linked to Canada-Based Handlers

Investigations have revealed that the module was operating under the guidance of Canada-based BKI handlers Zeeshan Akhtar and Ajay Gill. According to police, Vishavjit and Jackson had earlier retrieved two grenades from Beas through their associates in July this year. Out of these, one was allegedly used in the attack on a liquor shop in SBS Nagar around 10 days ago, while the second has now been recovered.

Swift Police Action Prevents Further Attacks

Officials stated that the arrests and recovery of the grenade have prevented potential strikes planned by the module. A case has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar, and further investigations are underway to trace the remaining network.

Punjab Police Reaffirms Commitment to Peace

Reiterating the state’s firm stance against terrorism, a Punjab Police spokesperson said, “Our forces remain committed to dismantling terror outfits, curbing organised crime, and ensuring peace and public safety in Punjab. Every such recovery weakens the designs of anti-national elements.”
