Amritsar: In a breakthrough against cross-border criminal activities, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police have arrested four individuals linked to an international arms smuggling network operating along the Indo-Pak border. The arrests were made during a swift, intelligence-driven operation.

The accused were found in possession of seven sophisticated pistols, including PX5 9mm, Glock 9mm, and .30 bore weapons. According to initial reports, these weapons were smuggled into India from Pakistan, with the group operating primarily from border villages in the Amritsar region.

Police investigations have revealed that the arrested men were in direct contact with smugglers based in Pakistan. The weapons consignments were reportedly handed over at discreet locations near the international border before being transported inland.

“This group was actively supplying illegal arms to gangsters across Punjab,” said an official involved in the operation. “Their objective was to fuel organized crime by providing high-grade firearms.”

An FIR under the Arms Act has been lodged at Chheharta Police Station, and further inquiries are ongoing to expose the broader nexus, including possible links to terror outfits or organized crime groups.

Authorities believe this operation has dealt a significant blow to illegal arms trafficking in the region. More arrests are likely as the investigation progresses.
