Amritsar: The Amritsar Commissionerate Police achieved a major breakthrough in its anti-narcotics campaign by dismantling a high-profile international drug smuggling syndicate on Wednesday. Law enforcement officials arrested two key operatives and recovered a massive haul of contraband, including ten kilograms of methamphetamine, commonly known as ICE, and four kilograms of heroin, delivering a substantial blow to the cross-border supply chain.

According to updates shared on social media platform X by the Director General of Police, Punjab, preliminary investigations indicate that the detained suspects were working under the direct command of an influential kingpin stationed overseas. The transnational handler has been operating the network from operational bases in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, coordinating logistical distribution channels to move highly addictive chemical stimulants and opioids into regional hubs across Punjab and Delhi.

The intelligence-led operation revealed deep organizational plotting behind the syndicate’s domestic expansion. Investigators disclosed that one of the arrested suspects had recently returned to India from Dubai, where he reportedly underwent specialized training from the transnational cartel to manage large-scale illicit drug consignments and optimize smuggling routes. The syndicate was aggressively focusing its supply networks across the Majha and Doaba regions of Punjab to target local youth.

A formal criminal case has been registered against the suspects under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Chheharta Police Station in Amritsar. Specialized tracking units have launched an extensive financial and backward-and-forward linkage investigation to trace the digital money trails, isolate hidden local accomplices, and entirely neutralize the network’s operational infrastructure. Police officials emphasized that further arrests and subsequent seizures are highly probable as custodial interrogation moves forward.
