Ferozepur: In a significant breakthrough against narcotics smuggling, police in Ferozepur have arrested a youth identified as Saurav and seized 5.010 kg of heroin from his possession.

SHO Kashmir Singh said the operation was carried out based on a specific intelligence input. The police team conducted continuous surveillance for four to five days before laying a trap and successfully apprehending the आरोपी. The contraband was recovered from a blue Skybag kit bag in his possession. Along with the heroin, a mobile phone and a motorcycle were also seized.

Police officials confirmed that another suspect, Vansh, is currently absconding, and raids are being conducted to arrest him.

A case has been registered against both accused under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act, which deal with possession of commercial quantities of narcotics.

The arrested accused will be produced before the court to seek police remand for further investigation. Officials said the probe will focus on identifying the backward and forward linkages of the drug supply chain to dismantle the larger network.

Police assured that the absconding accused will be arrested soon and strict action will be taken against all those involved in the racket.
