Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet on Wednesday approved the prosecution of former minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot in a high-profile corruption case, marking a significant step in the state’s ongoing vigilance drive.

The Vigilance Bureau had filed an FIR against Dharamsot in June 2022. Investigations later revealed that the former minister allegedly accepted a bribe of ₹1.67 crore.

In addition to criminal proceedings, the Cabinet has decided to initiate action under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2022, to strengthen the case further.

A formal recommendation has been sent to the Governor for approval. Once granted, legal proceedings against Dharamsot will formally commence.
