Amritsar: The post-mortem examination of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, the District Manager of the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, is scheduled to take place at the Government Medical College in Amritsar on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. A large gathering of family members, relatives, and representatives from various organizations is expected to be present. According to reports from the Joint Coordination Committee of procurement agencies, a significant convoy will accompany the family to the post-mortem house. While the family was initially given a 10:00 AM slot, the process is expected to formally begin around 12:00 PM following identification and other legal formalities.

The family had previously requested that the autopsy be conducted by a panel of doctors from PGI Chandigarh to ensure complete transparency. Addressing these concerns, ACP Gagandeep Singh confirmed that a specialized panel of doctors has been formed at the Amritsar Medical College, and the entire procedure will be videographed under the supervision of a judicial magistrate. Following the post-mortem, the final rites of the official will be performed at the Durgiana Shivpuri Crematorium in Amritsar. The family, who had previously refused to allow the autopsy until arrests were made, agreed to the procedure late Monday evening.

In a major development, the Punjab Police arrested former Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Monday in connection with the suicide. Bhullar, along with his personal assistant Dilbagh Singh, was taken into custody from Mandi Gobindgarh in Fatehgarh Sahib and brought to Amritsar. Both are expected to be produced in a local court today. The arrest follows a political firestorm and a 24-hour ultimatum from Randhawa’s wife, Upinder Kaur, who accused the former minister of relentless harassment and physical assault over the awarding of warehousing tenders.
