Ferozepur: In a major push for speedy justice, 10,181 cases were resolved during the National Lok Adalats held across Ferozepur district on Saturday. The initiative, conducted under the guidance of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, Mohali, followed directions from the National Legal Services Authority, Delhi.
The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ferozepur, under the supervision of District and Sessions Judge Sumit Malhotra, constituted 18 benches for the Adalats. Of these, 12 functioned in the Ferozepur courts, one at the Permanent Lok Adalat, three at Zira, and two at Guru Har Sahai. In addition, 10 revenue benches were set up to handle disputes.
Out of 21,609 listed cases, 10,181 were settled amicably. These included civil disputes, compoundable criminal cases, cheque bounce matters, recovery disputes, traffic challans, domestic issues, motor accident claims, and pre-litigation cases linked to banks, finance companies, and telecom operators.
Help desks were set up at the District Court Complex, Zira, and Guru Har Sahai to assist litigants. Officials noted that decisions of Lok Adalats carry the weight of a decree and are binding, providing both parties with quick and cost-effective resolutions without further litigation.
“Settle disputes, spread harmony—Lok Adalats ensure quick and affordable justice,” the DLSA emphasized.
