Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday adjourned the hearing on a petition filed by Khadoor Sahib Member of Parliament Amritpal Singh, who has challenged the imposition of the National Security Act (NSA) against him for the third time. The court has fixed January 20, 2026, as the next date of hearing.

During the proceedings, the Punjab government sought more time to file its response to the petition. Accepting the request, the High Court granted an extension and deferred further hearing in the matter.

Amritpal Singh has questioned the legality of the repeated invocation of the NSA against him, calling it unlawful and unjustified. He is currently lodged in Dibrugarh Jail in Assam under preventive detention.

With the case now listed for January 20, attention has shifted to the Punjab government’s forthcoming reply, which is expected to outline the state’s position on the continued application of the NSA against the MP.
