Qadian— A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Chandigarh, conducted an early morning raid at a residence in Nangal Bagbana village near Qadian, Punjab. The raid is part of an ongoing investigation involving fugitive-turned-accused Jaswinder Singh, alias Jassi, who has been linked to multiple drug smuggling cases.
The residence belongs to Maninder Singh, reportedly associated with Jassi. According to official sources, Jassi had earlier escaped to Canada to avoid arrest but was deported last month and taken into custody on arrival. He was recently granted bail by the court.
Around 5 a.m. on Tuesday, the NIA team arrived at the property, accompanied by local police personnel for security. The agency is now scanning for digital evidence, communication records, and other material possibly connecting the location to international drug networks.
Darshan Singh, the Sarpanch of Nangal Bagbana, confirmed the presence of NIA and police officers in the village early in the morning. The raid signals the agency’s continued efforts to dismantle deeper layers of the drug trade with global links.
