Ropar: Punjab’s Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Sunday announced that Nangal will soon be home to a state-of-the-art “Nangal–Bhakra Dam Museum,” a project aimed at boosting tourism and showcasing the region’s historical and engineering legacy.

Sharing the update, the minister said the long-delayed initiative, which had remained stalled for nearly two decades despite multiple attempts to launch it, is now moving ahead at a rapid pace. Construction work, he added, is being carried out continuously to ensure timely completion.

The proposed museum is expected to highlight the significance of the Bhakra Dam, one of India’s most iconic infrastructure projects, while also offering visitors an immersive and modern experience.

Bains noted that the museum is part of a broader plan to transform Nangal into a key tourist destination. Alongside this project, developments such as a glass bridge and a modern auditorium are also in the pipeline, aimed at enhancing the city’s appeal.

Officials believe that once completed, these initiatives will not only attract tourists but also contribute to local economic growth and revive Nangal’s status as a prominent destination in the region.
