Ludhiana: In a deeply disturbing incident reported from Ludhiana, a 21-year-old pharmacy student has accused her father of sexually assaulting her at their residence. Police have registered a case against the accused following the survivor’s complaint.
According to officials from Tibba police station, the young woman is a third-year student at a private college and regularly commutes from her home. In her complaint, she stated that her elder sister is married, while her other sister and younger brother are currently in Bihar for studies.
The survivor alleged that in November 2025, her mother and siblings left for Bihar, after which she was alone at home with her father. During this period, she claimed that her father, often under the influence of alcohol, attempted to assault her multiple times. She said she informed her mother about the incidents over the phone, and her mother confronted the accused.
Despite repeated attempts, the survivor stated that she resisted and refused, reminding him of their father-daughter relationship. However, she alleged that on the night of February 8, her father entered her room in an intoxicated state and sexually assaulted her. When she tried to raise an alarm, he allegedly gagged her to silence her.
The next day, the student went to her college and broke down in front of her friends, narrating the incident. She later contacted a helpline number. In the presence of a woman police officer, her statement was recorded at the college premises.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 64, which pertains to rape. Authorities stated that given the seriousness of the allegations, the investigation has been expedited. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused, who is currently absconding.
The case has sparked shock and outrage locally, highlighting once again the urgent need for awareness, support systems, and swift legal action in cases of sexual violence.
