Ladowal: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a revision in toll rates for the Ladowal Toll Plaza, Punjab’s most expensive and busiest transit point, effective from midnight tonight, April 1, 2026. The new notification mandates a general increase of ₹5 across various vehicle categories, part of a broader 3% to 5% hike across all toll plazas in the state. Significantly, starting tomorrow, cash transactions will be entirely discontinued at the plaza, requiring all commuters to use FASTag or UPI for payment.

According to Toll Manager Vipin Rai, the revised rates based on the March 27 notification will see car, jeep, and van drivers paying ₹225 for a single journey, up from ₹220, while a round trip will now cost ₹340. Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV) and minibuses will be charged ₹365 for a single trip and ₹550 for a double trip. Monthly passes have also seen a modest increase, rising from ₹340 to ₹350, while the annual commercial pass for 200 trips has been hiked by ₹75 to a new rate of ₹3,075.

The annual revision is calculated based on the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) and the specific infrastructure provided, such as flyovers and underpasses. Authorities have warned that vehicles arriving without a functional FASTag or digital payment capability may face penalties or be turned back. Commuters are advised to ensure their FASTag accounts are active or their UPI applications are ready to avoid delays at the barrier.
