Kidnapped Toddler Rescued in Ludhiana; Woman Cites Personal Tragedy as Motive

Ludhiana: A one-year-old child who was reported kidnapped from Ludhiana railway station two days ago has been safely recovered, and the alleged kidnapper, Anita, along with her stepbrother, has been taken into custody. The child was found in the Gyaspura area late last night, ending a tense search operation by local authorities.

Anita, whose husband works in Mumbai, has been living alone in Ludhiana with her son for some time. During police questioning, she disclosed a tragic background: several years ago, she lost her twins and has been grappling with emotional distress ever since. She revealed that seeing the young child playing at the station prompted her to take him with the intention of raising him as her own.

However, the police remain cautious about her explanation and are exploring the possibility of child trafficking. Investigators are scrutinizing her story carefully to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the abduction.

Adding to the mystery, Anita told authorities that she was at the railway station to accompany her brother to a doctor in Jalandhar. Given that the train journey between Ludhiana and Jalandhar takes roughly an hour, police have found it unusual that she was at the station at midnight, raising further questions about her intentions.

The case is currently under joint investigation by Ludhiana Police and the Government Railway Police (GRP), with efforts ongoing to verify the accused’s claims and uncover any wider network possibly involved.

Authorities have urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities as they continue to prioritize the safety of children and work to dismantle any related criminal operations.
