Jalandhar (Ens): Freshman Induction 2026 at Lovely Professional University (LPU) brought together music, Punjabi cinema, and student experiences, with renowned singer-songwriter and LPU alumnus Rahgir returning to his alma mater for a special live concert, followed by an interaction with actor Jasmine Bhasin, singer actor Happy Raikoti, and actor Gulab Singh, the cast of the upcoming Punjabi film Juda.

The evening took a musical turn with Rahgir returning to his alma mater for a special performance. Known for his folk inspired sound, storytelling and socially rooted compositions, Rahgir has built a distinctive identity in India’s independent music scene. His return to LPU carried a special significance for the freshers. Having once experienced university life as an LPU student himself, Rahgir now returned to perform for a new generation of students at the beginning of their own university journey.

Rahgir performed some of his popular compositions, including Mere Gaon Aaoge and Kachha Ghada, and interacted with students during the concert. His performance created an energetic campus atmosphere, with students joining in to celebrate music and the artist’s return to his alma mater.

Beyond the entertainment, Rahgir’s presence offered freshers a glimpse of the diverse journeys that can begin at university, from being a student on campus to building an independent creative career. His return to LPU as an accomplished artist reflected the possibilities that emerge when students are encouraged to explore their interests beyond the classroom. This approach is central to LPU’s Edu-revolution vision, which places emphasis on exposure, experimentation, interaction and opportunities for students to shape their own university experience.

The evening also featured an interaction with the cast of Juda, with Jasmine Bhasin, Happy Raikoti, and Gulab Singh engaging with students and sharing insights from their experiences in Punjabi cinema. The session brought the world of films closer to the campus, with students getting an opportunity to interact with the artists and learn more about their upcoming film.

The evening formed part of Freshman Induction 2026, LPU’s programme to welcome students into university life through a mix of orientation, cultural experiences, student engagement and interactions with accomplished personalities. Bringing together an alumni homecoming, independent music and Punjabi cinema, the evening allowed freshers to connect with artists, experience campus culture and begin their university journey with experiences extending beyond academics.
