Hoshiarpur – District Magistrate Aashika Jain has issued strict orders regulating the use of firecrackers in Hoshiarpur district during upcoming festivals. The orders have been passed under powers conferred by Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, in line with state government guidelines.
According to the notification, firecrackers may only be used during specific time slots. On Diwali, October 20, 2025, fireworks will be permitted from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. On Gurpurab, November 5, the permissible slots will be from 4:00 am to 5:00 am and again from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm. On Christmas (December 25–26) and New Year’s Eve (December 31), firecrackers will be allowed between 11:55 pm and 12:30 am.
The District Magistrate has also prohibited the use of firecrackers within 100 meters of silence zones, such as hospitals, educational institutions, courts, and religious places. She directed all Sub-Divisional Magistrates, area magistrates, and district police officials to ensure strict enforcement of these rules and compliance with government-issued guidelines.
