Chandigarh: The alleged audio clip linked to the Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police reached the Punjab and Haryana High Court after petitions were filed by the Shiromani Akali Dal and other opposition parties. The court heard the matter and issued strict directions regarding the investigation.

During the hearing, the High Court ordered that a neutral and independent agency must assist in examining the authenticity and content of the audio. The court also directed that all proceedings in the case should be completed before the upcoming elections. The opposition had earlier raised allegations during the nomination process, claiming that the audio influenced the fairness of the electoral environment.

The Shiromani Akali Dal had released the purported conference call recording of the Patiala Police, in which voices were allegedly heard discussing ways to obstruct the filing of nomination papers by Akali Dal candidates.
