Panchkula: Panchkula witnessed a major accident on Wednesday morning when a large tree fell on a car carrying schoolchildren. The incident took place outside a private school in Sector-4, where heavy rainfall has been lashing the city since early morning.

The car, which was transporting students of Satluj Public School, was crushed by the fallen tree, leaving six children injured. All the injured students were immediately rushed to a private hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Eyewitnesses reported that the accident occurred just as the car was nearing the school premises. Panic spread among parents and residents after the news of the accident broke.

Authorities had earlier issued instructions to shut down schools due to heavy rains, but the incident still unfolded during the morning rush. Local administration teams reached the spot to clear the road and assess further risks from weakened trees in the area.

The accident has once again raised concerns over safety measures near schools, especially during the ongoing spell of heavy rainfall in the region.
