GURDASPUR — A devastating road accident on the national highway in Gurdaspur claimed the lives of four young men from Pathankot during the early hours of Tuesday. The collision was so severe that the alto car they were travelling in was completely crushed, trapping the bodies of all four occupants inside the vehicle’s mangled frame.

According to eyewitnesses, a deafening crash was heard at around 4:00 AM on Tuesday, prompting nearby residents to rush to the spot and alert the local police. Emergency responders had to use specialized hydraulic cutters to tear through the body of the car to extricate the victims. Due to the force of the impact, the four individuals were found tightly pinned against one another across the front and rear seats, having succumbed to their injuries on the spot.

The local police have taken custody of the bodies and sent them for post-mortem examinations. While three of the victims are yet to be formally identified, authorities have confirmed the identity of one of the deceased as 31-year-old Vikram, also known as Vicky, a resident of Teacher Colony in Bhadroa. Vikram, a father of two young children, worked at a mattress showroom in Pathankot and had reportedly travelled to Amritsar with friends two days prior to the accident.

Family members revealed that Vikram had called his wife late Monday night to inform her that his return would be delayed but requested her to iron his clothes as he intended to head straight to work in the morning. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Daljit Singh stated that the exact sequence of events and the identity of the other vehicle involved remain unclear. However, based on the extensive damage to the front of the car, investigators suspect that the high-speed vehicle rammed into the rear of an unidentified stationary or slow-moving heavy transport truck or trailer. Specialized police teams are currently scanning highway surveillance footage and conducting inquiries to identify the remaining three victims and locate the second vehicle
