Ludhiana: The Ludhiana police have solved a fake robbery case in Jagraon, arresting two people and recovering ₹85,200 in cash. Investigations revealed that the alleged victim, an employee of a private finance firm, conspired with two of his friends to stage a robbery. One accused remains absconding.
According to police, the arrested individuals have been identified as Jaspreet Singh, a resident of Jawaharke village in Mansa district, and Parvinder Singh of Hasanpur village, Mansa. The third accused, Khujal from the same village, is still on the run.
ASI Narinder Kumar said that Jaspreet Singh works at Swatantra Microfin Pvt Ltd, Ahmadgarh Mandi branch, where his duty is to collect payments from villages and deposit them with the company. Jaspreet had earlier reported to police that while returning from Badduwal towards Lalto, four unidentified men on motorcycles surrounded him and looted a bag containing ₹90,828.
The police immediately launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage from the area. However, no suspicious motorcycles were found on the route, raising doubts about the complaint. Upon questioning, Jaspreet confessed to having fabricated the robbery with his friends. Following his confession, police arrested Jaspreet and Parvinder and recovered most of the stolen amount.
DSP Dakha Varinder Singh Khosa said that efforts are ongoing to arrest the third accused, Khujal. Both Jaspreet and Parvinder have been produced before the court and remanded for further interrogation.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Jaspreet and Parvinder planned the fake robbery to steal company funds and later involved their friend Khujal, luring him with ₹5,000 for his role.
